Stocks are bought and sold booking profits in a day. 

The Intraday trading starts from 9:15AM to 3:15PM wether you are in loss or profit before the given time you should exit your position irrespective of long or short. In case of not exited before the time your broker can sqare off your position behalf of you by charging auto exit charges from the demat account.
